Richard Childress Racing is attempting to work out contract extensions with Clint Bowyer and General Mills. Childress said he thinks that General Mills will return to the team next season, but they still need to secure additional sponsorship for the No. 33 team.
Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch are no longer on probation for the incident that occurred at the Showtime Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Their probation, which spanned four races, ended on June 15th.
Following the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway, reports began to surface of an altercation between Richard Childress Racing owner Richard Childress and Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Kyle Busch. Witnesses say that Childress put Busch in a headlock and punched him because, following a tough on-track battle with RCR Joey Coulter, Busch hit Coulter’s truck on the cool-down lap.
