Chrysler Group LLC is teaming up with Universal Pictures on the upcoming film, Fast Five, the fifth installation in the Fast and Furious film franchise. As part of the cross-branding deal, Dodge supplied 2010 and 2011 Chargers for the film.
Robby Gordon Motorsports will field Dodges during the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, the team announced. Last season, RGM fielded Toyotas.
The new nose for the Dodge Challenger has been approved for use in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2011. Dodge Motorsports Engineering worked with Penske Racing to develop the nose, and the automaker thinks it gives the car better brand identity.

Richard Petty Motorsports will conduct its second merger in as many seasons, as RPM will merge with Yates Racings, fielding Fords in the Sprint Cup Series in 2010.
Richard Petty said that funding from Dodge is on hold due to bankruptcy proceedings. And, Penske Racing’s Walter Czarnecki also said that payments from Dodge have been held up by legal proceedings. Meanwhile, a General Motors spokesperson said that there are no expected budget cuts for GM’s racing program.

If someone said a decade ago that NASCAR would someday switch to electric cars, we all would have rolled our eyes and had a good laugh. But with the way things are going, I wouldn’t be surprised to see electric cars in NASCAR someday.
