Tornado Foods will sponsor Stewart Haas Racing’s No. 39 Chevy and driver Ryan Newman for five races next season.

Edwards Rolls To Victory; Delays Inevitable

Harvick Wins Race; Hornaday Wins Championship

Kevin Harvick won the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway, while Ron Hornaday clinched his fourth Camping World Truck Series championship with a fourth place finish in Harvick’s No. 33 truck.

Carquest Extends Sponsorship Deal With HMS

Carquest Auto Parts has extended its sponsorship Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 5 Chevy and driver Mark Martin. Carquest will appear as the primary sponsor for eight races, and as an associate sponsor for the rest.

JGR, Busch Penalized 25 Points

Joe Gibbs Racing and driver Kyle Busch were penalized 25 owners’ and drivers’ points, respectively, for improperly attached weight discovered during pre-race inspection for last weekend’s Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, according to SceneDaily. The crew chief, Jason Ratcliff, was fined $5,000 and place on probation.

NASCAR Penalizes Earnhardt Ganassi Racing

NASCAR issued fines and points penalties to Earnhardt Ganassi Racing after Martin Truex Jr’s car was found to be too low during post-race inspection. Teresa Earnhardt was docked 50 owners’ points. Truex lost 50 drivers’ points, and crew chief Kevin Manion was fined $50,000 and place on probation.

Sprint Cup Championship Not Decided Just Yet

Jimmy Johnson went into Texas with a comfortable 184-point lead. After running in the top 10 in all three practices, including leading the final practice, and qualifying 12th, Johnson had to be confident. But, in NASCAR anything can, and will happen.

RPM Lays Off Workers

Layoffs have begun at Richard Petty Motorsports with the team letting go of 47 workers as it shuts down its engine department. Four Candidates For Phoenix’s No. 09

There appear to be four candidates for Phoenix Racing’s No. 09 Sprint Cup entry, according to ESPN Insider via Jayski. Casey Mears is said to be the leading candidate. But, Reed Sorenson, David Gilliland, and David Stremme are also in the mix.
