Harvick Wins Second Consecutive Bud Shootout

Kevin Harvick survived a bout with flu-like symptoms, missing Bud Shootout practice, and a green-white-checker finish to win his second consecutive Bud Shootout under caution. Harvick took the lead on lap 75, and earned the victory when the field was frozen due to a caution for a multi-car accident.

NASCAR Quick Hits

  • Danica Patrick will be making her Nationwide Series debut in this weekend's season-opener, after finishing an impressive sixth in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race, her first race in a stock car. JR Motorsports and her sponsor, GoDaddy.com, have decided that Patrick is ready. She will replace Kelly Bires, in the second JRM Chevy. Team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr is also slated to drive in the race. #
  • Crown Royal extends its sponsorship of Roush Fenway Racing and driver Matt Kenseth. Crown Royal will now sponsor Kenseth's No. 17 for 35 of 38 races, including the Bud Shootout and the All Star Race. Originally, Crown Royal was set to sponsor about half the season. #
  • Miccosukee Resorts & Gaming will no longer sponsor Phoenix Racing's No. 09.  Miccosukee committed to sponsor the Phoenix Racing's No. 1 Nationwide entry for the entire season, and the No. 09 Sprint Cup entry for 18 races. Chairman of the Miccosukee tribe, Billy Cypress, lost the his bid for reelection. The new chairman ended the sponsorship. Phoenix has very little recourse, despite having a contract. Owner James Finch could appeal to the tribual council, but that isn't likely to make any difference. #
  • According to Jayski, Michael McDowell has signed on with Prism Motorsports to drive a second car for the team full time in the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. McDowell will drive the No. 55 and Dave Blaney will drive the No. 66, the car he drove most of last season. Zack McGowan will serve a crew chief for McDowell. #
  • Latitude 43 Motorsports has secured sponsorship for its No. 26 car for the Sprint Cup Series opener at Daytona. Window World will sponsor the car. Boris Said has committed to driving for the team for the first five races of 2010. Frank Stoddard will serve as crew chief for the car. #
